Twente is a green entrepreneurial region in the east of the Netherlands, directly connected to Amsterdam via the A1 in less than 90 minutes, and strategically positioned as rural business hub bordering powerhouse Germany. Twente is a non-administrative region within Overijssel, one of the 12 provinces of the Netherlands. Its’ population of around 625.000 are known as Twentenaren or Tukkers. Twente is made up of 14 municipalities with the larger 3 cities being Enschede, Hengelo and Almelo, plus the municipalities of Borne, De Lutte-Losser, Haaksbergen, Hellendoorn-Nijverdal, Hof van Twente, Oldenzaal, Ootmarsum-Dinkelland, Rijssen-Holten, Tubbergen, Twenterand and Wierden-Enter.
